Artist's Bio

I graduated from Bucknell University in 2001 with a degree in Art and Art History.  Throughout college, I focused mainly on black and white photography, fascinated with seeing every day images in only their most dramatic, colorless tones.

Growing up in the jewelry industry, I had always dabbled in creating simple earrings and necklaces, so after college I took some basic silversmithing classes.   After learning how to solder and form metals, I quickly became addicted.  I have since taken many classes and workshops, and I try to spend as much time as possible creating my jewelry.

I was inspired for the See Spot Series while in New Mexico in 2004.  One of the local galleries had painted brightly colored circles inside circles on their front window.  I was fascinated with not only the colors, but the simplicity of the design and how perfectly that would translate into silver!  On the plane ride home, I filled my sketch book, and Spot was born.

I have based the series on the ideas of simplicity and color; nothing flashy or complicated, just color and metal.  I now enjoy adding the colors I once filtered out.  I love the art of metalsmithing and I strive to make fun jewelry that people can wear everyday.
